My (Christen’s) family is scattered all over the U.S. I have an amazing brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew in Colorado Springs. I have a sister out in Arkansas with her hubby, as well as siblings near the town where I grew up in Ohio. The sister who lives closest, Leah, resides in Savannah, Georgia, and I really hit the jackpot when I found out that my brother Matthew would be staying in Savannah for the summer with her.

Leah is getting married to an amazing guy this October, and when I offered to shoot her bridal portraits in her gorgeous city, she absolutely agreed. There won’t be any spoiler alerts in this post, but I will say that my sister is a stunning bride who brought tears to my eyes when I saw my little sister look so gorgeous.

We spent Saturday morning and afternoon in downtown, looking at the stereotypical sights of Savannah, from Forsyth Park to Chippewa Square from Forrest Gump. We ate at Crystal Beer Parlor to recharge, shot my sister’s bridal portraits, and then finished with a beach night-walk at Tybee Island. Patrick definitely chased multiple ghost crabs into the water, and wandering down an abandoned beach with cooler weather was sooooo refreshing. Sunday was a whirlwind with more time downtown on River Street with Leah treating us to coffee at Blends before we headed out. It’s always hard to say goodbye after such a great weekend, but I know I’m beyond blessed to take trips to beautiful places as well as have family so amazing that I truly miss their presence in my life. Here are some nuggets from a great weekend spent together.

I definitely took a ton of pictures of the spanish moss, because that is something that doesn’t exist in Raleigh. Also, the architecture is so unique here as well.

Going to Forsyth Park is always a staple for guests because of the size as well as all of the amazing events happening, including a wedding happening right in front of the fountain!

We took our time wandering through Savannah, stopping every so often to explore and escape the heat. One of our stops throughout the day was Gallery Espresso which Leah absolutely loves. Matt and I also went on our own adventure to take pictures by the phone booth while Leah and Patrick were window shopping.
