I absolutely love family sessions. The idea that we can freeze the age of a child, the chaos of the everyday, and the season that each family is going through is a gift that Patrick and I don’t take lightly. Conversely, this gift can also be heavy as the season that each family is going through can be beautiful or devastating, miraculous or heart-breaking. Regardless, Patrick and I have made it our mission to photograph families with authenticity to their season of life. When Kim contacted me to tell me she was going through a wonderful season with her family and would like to have it photographed, I absolutely couldn’t wait. Had I not shared now that the weather was pretty frigid and that Raleigh carried on its tradition of forecasting rain, you would have never known by looking at Kim and Jason’s adorable family. We met Noah, Addison, Hudson, and Savannah, a group that was seriously so well-behaved and fun to be around. Noah is such a gentleman and Patrick loved talking to him about basketball. Addison is a little mom and I saw so much of myself in her quiet, sweet spirit. Hudson was such a little trooper and I love it when Patrick and I get to play different variations of A,B,C’s and patty cake in order to get his genuine smile. And last but not least, little Ms. Savannah was shy at first, but opened up, giving us the sweetest smiles. Further, Patrick loved getting to hang out with Kim and Jason’s sweet four while I got to steal a few moments with the two of them in front of the camera. Enjoy this adorable family and their fun Historic Oak View shoot.
