“We just want to be married, and don’t want to draw out the engagement.” Matt and Katie’s paths should have crossed a long time ago. Not even attending the same church and living near one another resulted in a chance meeting. Life is like that sometimes; there are so many amazing people near us, and it’s only after meeting that we realize how our paths could have crossed over and over. Then after meeting online, it was full steam ahead. They met over dinner at one of Patrick’s and my favorite restaurant (we always knew great things came from Winston’s Grille), and the rest is history. They got engaged at the beginning of June and Patrick and I met them soon after for their December wedding. Matt and Katie both said that “they just know” that they are perfect together, and Patrick and I wholeheartedly agree. As we talked through their engagement session, it was apparent that they wanted to pay respect to the city where they fell in love. They wanted photos of the two of them at the Raleigh State Capitol followed by a skyline sunset at Boylan Bridge to show off the city skyline. We were so blessed with cloud cover and humidity instead of torrential rain and heat (we’ll take it!)
Matt and Katie are remarkable. Job changes, wedding planning, and life stress does nothing to shake them. There is something about their calming presence and positive spirits that left Patrick and I encouraged from the moment we met until we hugged goodbye following this shoot. Their timeless personalities meshed incredibly well with their downtown engagement session, and these two endured humidity with laughter and a “down for anything” attitude! Patrick and I cannot wait for December! The only way to ring in the new year!
